The good news is that there is a huge and growing demand for Family Medicine. The
bad news is that the "family practice model looks nearly identical to the way it
looked five decades ago", making it cumbersome and inefficient in today's health
care environment.
Most family physician offices are unable to meet the expanding demand. Availability
of same-day appointments for acute problems is unusual. Follow-up of patients is
often delayed. Open panels for "new" patients are infrequent. A large number of
patients have to use the emergency room inappropriately or present to the urgent
care center for same-day of care service.
At the risk of telling you what you already know: Medical and administrative responsibilities
have increased...and reimbursements have declined. Oh yes, and overhead has risen
as relentlessly as mercilessly.
So, what's Medical Practice Enemy #1? The Time Trap!
Family Team Care Defeats the Time Trap
Liberating the Family Physician is not just a slogan; it's our mission. Dr. Peter
Anderson, FTC's creator, is a family physician. In the several years since he implemented
Team Care, his office's productivity has soared, as has his patient satisfaction
and quality of care. "Even if I didn't make a nickel more, I'd never go back to
the old system. The medial care is the best I have ever given, patients are very
satisfied, and I am using my time effciently."
